More about Rodanthe Pier surfspot

The most easterly point of the Outer Banks consistently holds the biggest swells. The pier has been constantly repaired and after Sandy, extended to 700ft. The sandbars are always in flux and can produce a powerful, hollow wave, particularly from low incoming. Once again, dead high will fatten the waves right out unless it’s sizable.

Bad summer parking scene. Hazards include an anti-surfing pier owner, who doesn’t want you parking nearby or riding within 250 ft (80m) of the pier, and aggro fishermen, who can be quite accurate at casting their lead-weighted hooks.
