Saint Anne's surf guide

Saint Anne's is a surf spot located just south of Avila Beach. It features two reef peaks that can get quite crowded, especially when the surf is decent. The spot tends to be somewhat protected from northwest winds, making it a popular choice for local surfers. It’s best surfed with low to medium tides and requires a significant winter swell or a strong south swell to really get going.

The waves here break over boulders and offer both left and right rides. The optimal swell direction is southwest, but it can also handle south and northwest swells. You can expect to catch waves that start around 2 feet (0.6 meters), making it a spot that can accommodate various skill levels, though conditions can be pretty mushy at times. The best time to hit the waves is during mid tides and when there’s a northeast wind, which helps keep the conditions cleaner.

It’s worth noting that while the break offers some fun waves, consistency can be a bit hit or miss. When it’s working, you’ll find a decent crowd, so don't forget to be mindful of other surfers out there. Enjoy your session at Saint Anne's!
