Saint Tugen is a surf spot located near the town of Primelin, known for its beach break setup. It's less crowded than other breaks in the Baie d'Audierne, making it a good option for those looking to enjoy a session without the hassle of too many surfers around. If you're heading there, just follow the signs for La Pointe du Raz and make the turn near the Chapelle St Tugen.
The surf here is decent, especially when the conditions are right. It works best with SouthWest swell but can handle swells coming from the South and NorthWest as well. The spot can handle swell sizes from around 2ft (0.6 meters) and can deliver stand-up barrels, particularly at low tide. When it’s overhead, it offers a mix of left and right waves, making it suitable for intermediate surfers. Wind from the NorthEast is preferred for the best results. As the tide rises, though, it can get pretty tricky, especially along the shore where there’s a noticeable shore break that’s better suited for bodyboarders.
There’s a mix of sand to break the waves here, which is great for those looking to catch both left and right rides. Just keep in mind that while the place can serve up some solid fun, it doesn’t always guarantee perfection. So, check the conditions beforehand and enjoy your time out in the water!
