Salinas Cruz Jetty surf guide

Salinas Cruz Jetty, also known as Bamba, is a well-known surf spot located in Mexico. The rocky tip of the sandy area makes it a unique place to ride the waves. It's one of those spots that often works when the swell is too small elsewhere, so you might find it crowded at times. This spot is situated near a big port, giving it a bit of a different vibe compared to more laid-back beaches.

When it comes to surfing here, you can expect some short, sucky right-hand waves. The swells typically come from the SouthWest and can handle sizes of around 2ft (0.6 meters) up to bigger sizes when conditions align. This spot works best with a NorthWest wind and is good across low, mid, and high tide. The take-off zone is pretty small, so it’s not really suited for beginners; intermediate surfers will have a better time navigating the boulders and sand to catch those rights.

Just a bit west of the jetty, Playa Abierta can also offer some solid A-frames during bigger swells, especially at lower tides. So if you're nearby and looking for options, check that spot out too. But overall, Salinas Cruz Jetty is about fast, challenging waves, which can be fun for those with the right skills. Just be ready for a bit of company in the water!
