San Gabriel Rivermouth, also known as Power Plant, The River, Ray Bay, and Seal Beach Jetty, is a spot located at the south end of Ocean Avenue in Seal Beach. This rivermouth area offers a soft, fun sandbar peak right between the jetties, making it a casual place to catch a few waves.
The spot works best with peaky south to southwest swells, particularly when the tide is low. It can handle smaller swell sizes, around 1 ft (0.3 m), and provides both left and right-breaking waves. It's worth noting that it can’t deal with any significant swell size, so you won’t find heavy hitters here, but it can still be fun when conditions line up.
Nearby, off the south jetty, there's Crabs, which is a small right-hand sandbar wave worth checking out. Also, keep in mind that the water is usually warmer here than at other spots, and stepping lightly is advised, as there are sand sharks and stingrays in the area.
