More about San Mateo surfspot

San Mateo was the longest wave in the country until a massive port was built, cutting the wave in half. It's still possible to get 400m walls rumbling down the line-up, offering up plenty of vertical lips for smashing and the odd barrel. Wont even think of breaking until the beaches are overhead with a NW swell, so the few times a season it fires, the Manta locals and everyone else is on it. Other side of the port can have some easier rollers for improvers, but it is usually very small.

Might be some attitude in the water since it is a low consistency spot.
