Sandford Bay surf guide

Sandford Bay is a surf spot located on the coast that offers a mix of different wave conditions. It’s not exactly a world-class location, but it can be fun when the conditions align. The area has a large population of seals, so if you're a wildlife lover, you might appreciate that. Just keep in mind to give them some space, especially during mating season.

The waves here can be pretty interesting. You’ll find a sucky, hollow left reef break at the north end, which can deliver a decent ride, although it might not meet everyone's expectations. The primary swell direction is from the NorthEast, but it can also handle some SouthEast swells. It works best with swell sizes around 2 feet (about 0.6 meters) and can break over the rock ledge. The wind usually works out better from the west, and you can score waves during low, mid, and high tides.

Keep in mind that while Sandford Bay can be fun, it’s best suited for surfers who know what they’re doing. The waves can be inconsistent, so patience is key. If you check it out, make sure to respect the local wildlife and other surfers out there.
