More about Sandy Beach - Puerto Rico surfspot

Sandy Beach lines-up a good left off the rocks plus there’s some beachbreak in the area (Pools) that may suit beginner/improvers.

General: This beautiful and somewhat fickle left reef/sandbar combo can get super good, with just the right (south) wind and the correct buildup of sand over the reef. It breaks directly in front of a rocky outcropping, and once it hits a few feet overhead it can get pretty round through the inside section. In addition to blowing out with the tradewinds, the only slight bummer about Sandy Beach is that it's mainly one peak -- and the locals known it better than you. Trust us. Tides: Not the biggest tidal changes but lower generally better. Size: Head high-double overhead Wind: South or Southeast Swell: NW, N, NE Bottom: Sand and reef Paddling: Not too bad. Spot Rating: Predominantly a left off the rock headland it is normally best early before trade winds pick up. South wind days can be fun too.

Beginner to advanced

There is a bit of parking off the 413.

Late summer and fall for tropical cyclone swells but late fall through early spring for consistency.

Crowd Factor: Can be when the winds are cooperating. Local Vibe: Not too bad.

Needs S in the wind to stay clean so not so reliable.

A little dirty after rains.

Too many drinks from Tamboo.
