More about Sans Souci surfspot

Sans Souci is 15 minutes down the road from the Toco fishing depot. The sandbars develop on either side of the bay depending on the currents and when the left is working, it is usually the best. Takes N round to E swells at 0.5m-5m (2-15ft) and is excellent during hurricane season when it gets huge, clean and hollow.

General: Beach Break, as it's more often called, is like the Duranbah of Trinidad. It's more of a right when it's big but there is a good left to this wave, too. It wedges up on both the left and right and goes into a nice bowl. It will sometimes close out on the inside in half a foot of water. On the north end of this beach there is also good left when the sandbars are in form. Tides: Any depending on the size. Size: Head high-overhead+ Wind: South or Southwest Swell: N, NE, ENE Bottom: Sand Paddling: Depends on the swell -- more work as it gets bigger. Spot Rating: Pretty consistent and can offer good surf with the sand and swells align.

Intermediate to advanced

Park right there.

Late summer and fall for tropical cyclone swells but late fall through early spring for consistency.

Crowd Factor: Not too bad. Local Vibe: Mellow. Be cool and keep it that way.

All abilities depending on the size. Some rocks here and there. Medium consistency.

Not a concern.

Not much.
