More about Santa Barbara surfspot

Separated from Monte Verde by a small rocky headland, Santa Barbara's excellent beachbreaks are fast, hollow and bowly. The outer reef is part of an extinct volcano crater rim, causing heavy swell refraction and wedging peaks to come in from different directions.

Escapes the pollution from Ribeira Grande but suffers heavy rips and currents. Carpark behind Ribeira Seca.
