Scarfskerry Reefs is a surf spot located along the northwestern coast. It’s visible from the road, making it pretty easy to find. This spot is best checked out when the smaller NW to N swells are rolling in, especially if there's a south wind. Overall, it’s a quieter location, so you might often find yourself surfing in relative solitude.
The best swell direction for surfing here is Northwest, although it can also handle W and N swells. It works well with swell sizes around 3 feet (about 0.9 meters). The waves are reef breaks, offering both left and right handers. To catch the best waves, it’s advisable to surf during mid to high tide, and the south-east winds are preferred. Be mindful that this spot is more suited for expert surfers due to the challenging conditions.
Keep in mind that the area is quite natural, so parking should be done considerately, ensuring you don’t block any farmers’ gates. This helps maintain a good relationship with the locals and other users of the land.
