Seal Point surf guide

Seal Point is located at the tip of the bay and offers a mixed surf experience. It features two main sections that are separated by Full Stop rock. It’s known for its decent waves that can sometimes connect, especially when the conditions are just right. Surfers should be aware that the spot can feel a bit sharky, so keep your wits about you. It's a consistent spot, especially when J-Bay is lacking in size, and crowded conditions can pop up fairly quickly.

The best surf at Seal Point usually happens with southeast swells, but it also works with east and southwest swells. You can expect waves that break over rock ledges with a right-hand direction. It’s ideal for intermediate surfers since it handles swell sizes from around 3 feet (about 1 meter) up to larger days. Depending on the tide, you can surf during low, mid, or high tides, though different sections may prefer specific tides. Winds from the west work well here, so check that forecast before heading out.

While the overall vibe can be friendly, expect it to get busy, especially during peak seasons. The inconsistent nature of the swell can mean that it’s not always the best option, but when it is on, there are fun barrels and nice carve sections to be enjoyed. Just keep in mind the local surf culture and respect the lineup.
