Sesimbra to Sines surf guide

Sesimbra to Sines is a long stretch of coastline located in Portugal. It's not the most famous surf zone, so it tends to be less crowded. Even though it can be windy and a bit bleak at times, there are some surf spots worth checking out along the way. The area is mostly known for its sandy beaches and can catch some decent swells, although it’s often overlooked by surfers heading to more popular locations.

This stretch of beach is best for intermediate surfers. The optimal swell direction is from the Northwest, but you'll also find action with swells coming from the Southwest and North. It can handle swell sizes starting at 2ft (about 0.6 meters), and the waves generally break over sand. You can expect beach breaks that offer left and right waves. For the best surf, low to mid tides work well, and the ideal wind direction is from the East.

If you're looking for a challenge, the northern part features a few sandbars, but they only come alive with a big swell, so don't get your hopes up too high. As you get closer to Sines, watch out for some strong shorebreaks that can surprise you. Bodyboarders might find it more appealing here, especially if they're ready to take a dive into the sand!
