Sharpleys Point surf guide

Sharpleys Point is located just across the headland from Mpame Beach. It's a pretty unique spot that tends to grab a lot of swell, making it a go-to for surfers looking for a decent ride. The waves can wrap nicely around the point, providing an interesting surf experience. Despite its appealing location, it's not a crowded area, so you'll likely find some space to get your sessions in without dodging other surfers.

When the conditions are right, Sharpleys Point can handle swell sizes starting from about 2 feet (0.6 meters) and can work best with swells coming from the South, SouthEast, and SouthWest. The waves tend to break over uneven reef and sand, offering point breaks that generally run to the right. If you’re looking to catch some waves, the preferred wind direction is from the Northwest, and it works pretty well at low, mid, or high tide. This spot is suited for intermediate surfers, so you’ll want to be comfortable on your board to really enjoy what Sharpleys has to offer.

Just a heads up, the area's coastal environment, being squeezed between the Mpame and Mcwasa rivermouths, can lead to some shifty conditions. It’s decent for those looking for a bit of a challenge without having to deal with a bunch of other surfers around. Overall, Sharpleys Point has its charm and can provide some fun sessions if the conditions align.
