Shikanoshima surf guide

Shikanoshima is an island surf spot known for its mix of beachbreaks and a main reefbreak. It offers a variety of options suitable for different surfing levels, although it's important to note that a lot of the waves can be close-outs, so it's not always the best for everyone. The eastside reefbreak is where most surfers aim to be, especially when conditions are good.

The ideal swell direction here is Northwest, with the spot handling swell sizes starting from 1ft (about 0.3 meters) and going up. Most of the waves at Shikanoshima are lefts, breaking over an uneven reef. Surfing is often best with a west wind, which helps to create cleaner waves. This spot is generally more suited to intermediate surfers due to its tricky nature and uneven bottom.

Shikanoshima also has scattered rocks and boulders in the line-up, so it's a good idea to stay aware of your surroundings when you're out there. The spot works at low, mid, and high tide, giving you some flexibility, but you might find it more challenging when the waves are bigger.
