Sidewalk surf guide

Sidewalk is a surf spot located on Salangadeke Island, known for its varied surf conditions. The wave can range from a mellow righthander that’s perfect for longboarding when the swell is smaller, to a fast tube with sections that can shut down quickly. This spot breaks over a natural rock spit and is ideally exposed to the NorthEast, so it’s worth a visit if you're in the area, especially if you want to see what’s happening on the water.

The waves here are best with a North or East swell, ideally in the 2ft (0.6m) range. The spot handles different tide heights—low, mid, and high—which means you can catch waves throughout the tide cycle. It's mostly a right-breaking reef wave, and while it can get bumpy, a good SouthEast wind can clean things up a bit. This spot is generally better suited for intermediate surfers, so keep that in mind if you're thinking about hitting the waves here.

While surfing at Sidewalk, keep in mind that the local currents and swell filtering can be significant, especially on the southern tip of the island. So, if you’re looking for a spot to check while passing by, Sidewalk might surprise you on a good day. Just remember, it can be hit or miss, so don’t get your hopes up too high!
