Sinclairs Bay - Beach surf guide

Sinclairs Bay - Beach is a surf spot that’s easily spotted from the A9 and offers a beachbreak that can provide some decent waves. This spot is located at a river mouth, which helps to shape the banks nicely along the middle of the beach. It’s a pretty straightforward place to hit up if you’re looking for a day out on the water.

The beachbreak here works best with a northeast swell, but it can also handle some southeast swells. Expect waves in the range of about 2 feet (0.6 meters), which is great for intermediate surfers. The waves break over sand and there are options for both lefts and rights, so you'll have some variety while you're out there. The preferred wind direction is from the west, and it works well during low, mid, and high tides, making it flexible for different surf sessions.

If you’re planning to surf at Sinclairs Bay, you'll find more shelter from the wind at the south end of the beach, which can make for a nicer experience. There’s parking available at the end of the lanes leading to the beach, so you won't have to trek too far with your gear. It’s worth checking out if you're in the area and want a casual surf day.
