Overview
Souillac is a right-hand reef break that peels over live coral along the last stretch of fringing reef before the coast turns cliffy. On very big south swells, a heavy right-hand slab wakes up nearby at Gris Gris. One thing you won't have to think about here is pollution.
When It Works
The wave draws swell from southwest through southeast, with south swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3 m / 10 ft, and the right can come to life even on a smaller swell. Consistency is moderate, so count on worthwhile windows when the setup lines up rather than surf every day.
Wind and Tide
Look for north offshore wind to groom it clean. The reef breaks on mid and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Souillac is a good fit for intermediate surfers. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working.
