South Point - Barbados surf guide

South Point is located at the southern tip of Barbados and offers a unique surf experience. This spot is known for its beautiful views and the lively atmosphere created by local surfers. It can be a great place to catch some waves, but the conditions can vary, so it's good to know what you're getting into before heading out.

This surf spot generally offers long lefts over a live coral reef in front of the lighthouse. It breaks into sections, which can sometimes link up when the swell is big enough. The waves here are typically long, fast left walls with some cover-ups, along with shorter, more bowly right-handers that often catch the wind. The best time to surf here is during mid to high tide, especially when the swell is coming from the southeast and ranges between 2ft (0.6m) and bigger. South Point is suitable for intermediate surfers, so make sure you’re prepared to handle the conditions.

Be aware that the reef can be a bit tricky, and there are lots of urchins in the water. Local surfers know the area well, so don't hesitate to observe and chat with them; they can give you the lowdown on the current conditions. Overall, the spot can be fun, but it’s best to respect the local vibe and be mindful of your surroundings while enjoying your session.
