South West Rocks is protected from S swells so the Trial Bay crescent can be tiny and perfect for beginners. Horseshoe Bay is often rammed with swimmers in summer, but every now and then goes off with hollow righthanders off the point. Back Beach, like so many on this coast, can be good when the sand between the two rivermouths lines up on NE-E pulses.
Scores a 5 for consistency and crowds. Good fishing and a regular dive spot mean just one thing - lots of sharks!
