Special K surf guide

Special K is a surf spot that has a fringing reef just offshore, creating several breaks along the coral formations. It's known for its right-hand waves that bend and bowl out towards the end section. The spot works best during mid to high tides, and it can be affected by the southeast trade winds, which tend to be onshore.

The spot favors southeast swell directions, but it can also handle south-southwest swells. For the best experience, you’re looking at swell sizes around 2 feet (about 0.6 meters). The waves break over live coral, providing a unique ride. This place is mainly for intermediate surfers, as the waves can have a bit of power, and you’ll want some experience to navigate them safely. When the wind is coming from the northwest, it works better, so keep that in mind when planning your session.

If you’re thinking about checking it out, remember that Pebbles is just across the channel. It offers a different challenge for goofy-footers, with harder and hollower waves that might be worth a look if you're up for a bit more action. Just make sure to stay aware of the conditions and your own skill level when you hit Special K.
