Stockton Beach surf guide

Stockton Beach is a long stretch of coastline that runs for about 32 kilometers. It offers a mix of spots, which means you can find different waves depending on where you are. This beach can be a bit busy, with plenty of 4X4s cruising through the dunes, but it's still a place where surfers can explore and find some fun waves.

The surf at Stockton Beach can be decent, especially with the right swell. It generally works best with northeast and southeast swells, handling sizes from about 1 foot (0.3 meters) and up. The best waves typically break over sand, creating beach breaks that can offer both left and right waves. You’ll find that the middle section of the beach has better banks, often forming around the isolated Sygna shipwreck. The northwest wind is preferred, and you can surf at low, mid, or high tides. This spot can be beginner-friendly, making it a good choice for those just starting to get into surfing.

Due to the long stretch of beach, there are plenty of options to find your own space. However, it's worth noting that the area is known for shark sightings, so it's good to keep an eye out. If you're looking for a quieter spot, check out Birubi Beach at the northern end where the access is easier and the banks are usually more reliable.
