Overview
Summerville is a sandy beach break spread along a long stretch of white sand, with rideable peaks at both ends of the beach. The south end holds a rivermouth that regularly builds the best sand bars, and the sandy bottom serves up both lefts and rights.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from southwest through north to northeast (SW-N-NE), and it comes into its own when the swell lines up from the southeast (SE). It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, so there's a wide window between the smaller days and the bigger, more solid ones.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest (NW) offshore wind to groom the faces. The bars can work through most of the tide, from low to high, with a rising tide generally the better call.
