T Street, located at the foot of Trafalgar Street in San Clemente, is one of the main surf spots in the area and has a rich history. It's known for being a training ground for many professional surfers back in the 1980s. The break features a mix of boulders and sand, offering a variety of peaks for surfers to enjoy. The spot can get crowded, particularly in the summer, but it’s still worth checking out for the waves.
The surf here works best with southwest swells and can handle sizes as small as 1ft (0.3m). You'll find both lefts and rights, though lefts are often preferred. During low and mid tides, the waves tend to be fairly hollow, making for a more interesting ride. When the tide is high, the waves can get a bit mushy but are still fun for beginners. The ideal wind direction is northeast, which helps to clean up the surf conditions.
Remember that there are some restrictions when it comes to surfing at T Street. During summer, surfing is not allowed from 11am to 6pm, and on weekends it's 10am to 6pm. It's definitely a spot that caters to spongers as well, so if you’re into bodyboarding, you’ll find some waves to enjoy too!
