Taka Reef peaks up in front of the boat ramp and shoulders off to the right, while the left sucks over the shallow rocks and spins down a 50m reef.
From Auckland, head north on Auckland Waiwera Motorway State Highway 1. Take the exit and turn right onto Esmonde Road, then left onto Barrys Point Road, then right onto Anzac Street. Turn left onto Hurstmere Road at the round about, then the first right onto The Promenade. Find a park at the end of the road near the camping ground and the reef in right out infront.
Always packed with rippers who won't be happy to see you. Beware the channel marker pole. The beachbreaks south are good for beginners, stand-ups and lazy longboarders but have little shape.
