Tapak Padri surf guide

Tapak Padri is a lefthand point break located in the city of Bengkulu. Known locally, this spot features a sand build-up on the lee side of some sizable seawalls, accompanied by two jetties. It benefits from a large offshore reef to the south, which helps block a lot of southern swells. This setup makes it a unique spot, especially for those familiar with the area.

The surf at Tapak Padri shines best when there’s a large southwest to west swell. If you get more west in the swell, expect even bigger waves. It can handle swell sizes starting from 2 feet (about 0.6 meters) and generally breaks over sand. The wave direction is left, making it suitable for left-handers. Though the break works on all tides, you might find it optimal around low to mid to high tide. Intermediate surfers will likely find this spot challenging yet rewarding, with potential for some long rides.

While it’s not the most consistent spot and can sometimes be a bit small, there's usually a friendly crew of around 50 local surfers hanging out. The prefered wind direction is southeast, so keep that in mind when planning your session. Overall, Tapak Padri is a decent choice if you're looking for a laid-back vibe and some fun lefts.
