More about Te Akau South surfspot

The rivermouth at Te Akau South helps break up the close-outs, on this wild stretch of coast. Higher tides bring better shape to the shorebreak, but it's only worth checking when light swell and winds coalesce.

Continue onto State Highway 22, heading west, through Glen Massey. Turn left onto Te Akau Road, then left onto Te Akau South Road and continue right onto Neilson Road, to the end of the road. From here ask permission and walk across the paddocks.

Empty most days unless Raglan is tiny and everyone is looking to maximise the minimal swell.
