Overview
Telescopes is a world-class left-hand reef that offers more flexibility than most waves in the area. It breaks over live coral and runs deeper than other reefs nearby, which helps it stay predictable and keep from pinching. The take-off is steep but not ridiculous, dropping into a flawless, steady tube section before a hard-hitting wall that carries to a bend in the coral shelf where the next slot opens up. On the right day it can peel for a full 200m.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from southwest through west, with southwest the best match, and it likes some west in the swell. It works from 1.2 m / 4 ft to 4.6 m / 15 ft. When it gets big, up to triple overhead, the outer reef sets rumble through to the entry point with real power and purpose, so watch for wide sets that can pin you on the reef amid swirling currents.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast offshore wind. It can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call and mid tide usually delivering the best sessions.
