The Bowl is located off a small island on the other side of the “Baie de l’Embouchure.” It’s a right reef and pointbreak that can handle some size, making it a popular spot among surfers looking for a challenge. The access can be a bit tricky, so be prepared for a decent paddle from the road. Booties are also recommended because of the urchins around the reef.
This spot really comes alive with east swell, but it can also pick up swells from the north and southeast. It handles swell sizes starting from about 4ft (1.2 meters) and can work best on mid to high tides. When the conditions are right, the waves are predominantly right-breaking and can deliver some fun rides, especially with a west wind. However, it’s essential to note that The Bowl is for experts only, mainly because it doesn't break consistently and can be quite tricky when it’s pumping.
Since it’s a reef break, keep an eye on the tide and wind conditions if you want to score some good waves. The long paddle can be a workout, so make sure you’re prepared before heading out. The Bowl isn’t the most beginner-friendly spot, but for experienced surfers, it can be rewarding when the stars align.
