More about The Box (Northland) surfspot

Facing into the SW swell train, The Box makes the most of smaller swells, ankle-tapping them into short, fairly cavernous tubes, hence the generic name. Needs water without wind to make the gut-wrenching drops doable.

Wreck Bay Road. Drive to the end of the road and find a park. From here its either a long walk west round the point past Shipwreck Bay, Supertubes, Pines until you find a bluehouse on the hill. Or you can drive along the beach if you have a 4wd, careful can be dangerous and tidal.

It's a long walk around the point keeping the crew of barrel masters and bodyboarders low.
