World-class, freight-train, barrelling right that hardly ever breaks. Located on the west side of the south Gare breakwater in the mouth of the River Tees, the man-made boulder dump needs an excruciatingly rare E/SE swell.
Renowned for shocking water quality, strong tidal rips, sharp bottom and punishing hold downs it's best left to the committed local crew. In shadow of Hartlepool’s nuclear power station and chemical works. Best found with a good map. Drive past the steel works and park by the lighthouse compound gates. No facilities.
