Tiburon Reefs is located out on the peninsula tip, just south of the town of Tiburon. This spot has several potential right and left slabs that work well when the conditions are right. Access is pretty straightforward, thanks to a good coastal road that runs alongside the reef, making it easier to check the waves and time your visit for the summer swells that come in between May and September.
The surf here really kicks off with southeast swells and can handle sizes starting at around 1 foot (0.3 meters). You can expect both left and right breaks over an uneven reef, so be prepared for some different wave shapes. The best wind for Tiburon Reefs comes from the northeast, which can help the waves to form nicely. It’s friendly for intermediates, and you can find decent rides at low, mid, and high tides.
The area is pretty picturesque, with the vibrant town of Tiburon adding some charm to your surf trip. Just remember, the exposure to southeast swell is the name of the game here, so planning is key to snagging some good sessions.
