Tiger Stripes surf guide

Tiger Stripes is a surf spot located in a narrow inlet between the islands of Gan and Gadhdhoo. It's becoming popular among local surfers who are starting to explore its waves. The spot is named for the distinctive narrow gouges in the reef that create a striped appearance. When conditions are right, it can deliver some solid waves, but it can also be a bit underwhelming during smaller swells.

This spot works best with swells coming from the Southeast and Southwest, and it handles sizes starting at around 2 feet (0.6 meters). The main action happens on the lefts, which can offer some challenging take-offs leading into a long speed wall, and eventually an inside tube section that wraps up before fading out in the channel. The rights are easier and smaller, making them more forgiving, but they're not as exciting. It’s a good idea to catch this spot during low, mid, or high tide, with a preferable wind direction coming from the Northwest. Note that this spot is best suited for expert surfers, so if you’re still figuring things out, it might be worth looking for easier waves elsewhere.

Despite being somewhat unimpressive when smaller, Tiger Stripes often seems to have more size than nearby spots. It can handle all variations of South swells and any North wind. When the swell is up, you'll find some solid action here.
