Tikehau Left surf guide

Tikehau Left is located on the southern side of Tuheiava Pass, the only deepwater passage into the atoll. It's an option for surfers looking for something a bit more challenging and is about 15 minutes away from the resorts back on Tuherahera. The spot can vary quite a bit, and it's generally better for those with some experience, as it tends to be on the shallow side.

The wave breaks to the left and can cater to different swell sizes, handling conditions from around 3 feet (0.9 meters) and up. Optimal swell direction is from the SouthWest, but it can also pick up swells coming from the South and West. It’s known for being both grindy and hollow, depending on the swell, and works best during mid to high tides. If the wind is from the SouthEast, the wave tends to shape up nicely. This spot is recommended for intermediate surfers due to its shallow and sometimes tricky wave conditions.

In terms of the wave itself, Tikehau Left breaks over live coral, so be mindful of that when you’re out there. It's a good place for surfers who are confident in their skills and comfortable with some rough conditions. Enjoy the vibes and good luck out there!
