Tiro Alto surf guide

Tiro Alto is a surf spot located just a short drive from Caleta Mejía. This beach break offers surfers a mix of fun waves, especially during the summer months when the swells are small to medium. It can get pretty crowded here as many sunbathers flock to the area, looking for relaxation rather than riding waves.

The surf here is best when the swell direction comes from the West, but it can also pick up waves from the South and West. Tiro Alto handles swells starting from about 2ft (0.6 meters) and can create both left and right-breaking waves. The beach break works well at low, mid, and high tide, making it versatile for different sessions. The optimal wind direction is from the Northeast, helping to keep the waves clean. This spot is pretty friendly for beginners, though it can get overwhelmed by bigger swells, so it’s best to stick to smaller conditions.

If you're planning a session, be aware that the crowd can be quite large, especially during peak times. It's a good idea to arrive early to snag a good spot on the beach. Since the wave quality can vary, it's worth checking conditions before heading out.
