Tivives surf guide

Tivives is a surf spot known for its beachbreaks, located near a rivermouth. The atmosphere here is laid-back, attracting surfers looking for a chill day on the waves. It's not always reliable, but when conditions align, it can offer some decent rides. That said, it’s essential to be aware of the environment around here, as it's known for its wildlife, including crocodiles and sharks lurking near the Valor reefs.

The surf at Tivives mainly works best with swells from the south and southwest, handling sizes from about 0.6 meters to 3 meters (2ft to 10ft). The lefts at the Mini Valor point can be worth checking out when the swell is strong, especially during low tide. Beachbreaks here can often close out, but there are rights into the rivermouth that can also be worth your time, primarily around mid to high tide. For optimum conditions, a northeast wind works best, and this spot is generally suited for intermediate surfers.

When you’re out there, keep in mind that it’s a good idea to scope out the exact spot you want to ride, especially given the uneven reef and sand below. Walking back up the beach after catching a left by the cliffs can set you up nicely to paddle out close to the peak. Just be cautious of those big swells and the local wildlife while you enjoy your session!
