Trancas Point is located at the north end of Zuma Beach and is bordered by private properties. There’s a public stairway from Broad Beach Road that gives you access to the beach. It's a known spot for surfers looking for a right point wave that can offer a decent session depending on the swell and conditions.
This spot is best when the swell is coming from the west or the south. It can handle swell sizes as small as about 2 feet (0.6 meters), but it really shines with bigger swells. Expect a hollow wave that breaks over a mix of rock ledges and sand, making it a bit gnarly at times. The take-off often happens next to a large rock. Mid tide tends to be the most favorable, and if there’s a north wind, the conditions usually get even better. Just keep in mind that when there are big south swells, the wave doesn’t wrap in as nicely.
While you’re out there, be aware of the shorebreak, which can get pretty gnarly, so it's worth keeping an eye on that. Trancas Point is definitely more suited for experienced surfers due to the rocky terrain and varying conditions.
