Trigg Point surf guide

Trigg Point is a popular surf spot located in Perth, known for its consistent waves and heavy crowd. It features a decent-length, peeling right-hander that breaks over a sand-covered reef near the groyne. The place can get pretty busy, especially on good days, so be prepared to share the waves with plenty of other surfers. When summer ends, you might see some changes in the beach break as sand shifts around, impacting the overall wave quality.

The optimal swell direction for Trigg Point is from the west, but it can handle swell coming from the southwest and northwest as well. It works best with swell sizes starting at about 1ft (0.3 meters). The waves break over an uneven reef and sand, producing a mix of reef and sand waves that are ideal for intermediate surfers. While most waves come in right, the beaches near the car parks sometimes offer similar conditions but with fewer people when the winds are blowing from the east. Low, mid, and high tides can all provide decent waves here, making it a versatile spot depending on the conditions.

As with many popular surf spots, Trigg Point can be a place to watch out for larger sharks that frequent the area. These sightings can lead to some excitement, so keep your eyes peeled when you're out on the water. Just know that the combination of the scenery and the crowd makes for a unique experience, whether you're catching waves or just hanging out on the beach.
