Two By Fours is a surf spot located a bit farther east of Jetty East. It features an outside break that can be accessed nicely on bigger days by drifting over from Jetty East or with a bit of luck while paddling out. On a medium-sized outside day, it offers a pretty decent offshore peak. To get to Two By Fours, you’ll want to follow the beach road until you hit a sharp right turn. Look for the Sandpiper Cove condos; it's about a half-mile past there, and you'll find a long boardwalk on the left. Parking is across the street.
When it comes to the surf, Two By Fours can handle swells ranging from about 2 meters (6 ft) up to 4.3 meters (14 ft). The spot mainly breaks over sand, and you can expect waves that will go both right and left. Ideal swell directions are from the South-Southeast, South, South-Southwest, and Southwest. For the best experience, try to time your surf for low to mid tides. Wind direction plays a role too; the preferable winds are from the Northwest, North-Northwest, North, and North-Northeast. The spot is suited for intermediate to expert surfers, and you can ride shortboards, fish, funboards, or longboards depending on your preference.
Keep in mind that the crowd factor can get pretty high if word spreads about good conditions, so it can be a bit busy. The local vibe is average, so don’t expect anything too special on that front. Also, this is the Emerald Coast, well known for its beautiful water color. Surfing is best during the fall through spring months, especially during hurricane season.
