Tynemouth - Eddies surf guide

Tynemouth - Eddies is a sheltered cove located just to the south of Longsands. It's known for its shifting sandbars, which can sometimes lead to decent beachbreak peaks. This spot is pretty popular with locals, so it's worth checking out if you're in the area and looking for a surf session.

The surf here works best with a northeast swell, but it can handle swells coming from the north and southeast as well. It usually breaks over sand, and you can expect both left and right waves. Conditions are generally better when the swell size is around 2 feet (about 0.6 meters), and the optimal wind direction is coming from the southwest. Low tide tends to offer the best surf experience, so plan your sessions accordingly.

Since it's a cove, you might find it a bit sheltered from some wind conditions, making it a good option when other nearby spots are being blown out. Keeping an eye on the sandbars is key, as they can change frequently and affect wave quality. Just be aware that the surf can be quite inconsistent here, so be prepared to adjust your expectations.
