Uchiumi is the start of the 50km long Nichinan coast, characterised by heavily striated reefs known as the Devils Washboard and many punchy waves. The reef in front of the convenience store is predominantly about the lefts which can be hollow and fast over the shallow shelf. Tends to be better at high but will break through the tides.
Absolutely guaranteed a crowd here and it doesn't break on smaller junky windswells as it is inside the lee of the harbour breakwall.
