Uchizuma surf guide

Uchizuma is a small beach that's worth checking out if you're in the area. It can get a bit crowded, especially when the waves are up, but it offers some decent surf opportunities. The spot tends to close out when it gets overhead, so you might want to pick your days carefully. You can usually find some shelter from the north winds here, making it a decent option when conditions aren't perfect elsewhere. This beach is also a handy indicator for what’s happening with the surf on the nearby islands off Mugi.

The surf at Uchizuma works best with southeast swell, but it can hold its own with east and south swells too. It’s a beach break that can handle swell sizes starting from about 2 feet (0.6 meters). Both left and right waves are available, making it a versatile spot. It tends to work well at low, mid, and high tides, but your best bet is usually during the low to mid tide. The waves here are generally good for beginners, so it’s a nice place to practice and improve your skills.

If you’re looking to explore a bit further, renting a boat might be the way to go. There are some rumors about Teba having a long right that could be worth the trip. Just keep in mind, Uchizuma is usually more suitable for those just starting out, thanks to its forgiving waves.
