Udo Shrine is a surf spot that attracts a fair amount of attention. Located in a slightly remote area, it's a nice-looking right peak when the conditions align. Access involves a bit of a walk from the roadside parking, so be prepared for that. When it’s working, it draws in a crowd, especially on classic days with good swells.
This spot works best with NorthEast swells and prefers winds coming from the SouthWest. It’s capable of handling swell sizes around 3 feet (about 0.9 meters) and breaks over an uneven reef. The waves are mostly reef breaks, delivering a solid right-hander that can challenge more experienced surfers. While it can be surfed at low, mid, or high tide, it tends to perform better in the lower to mid tide range.
Given its setup, Udo Shrine is best suited for surfers with expert skills. The crowds can get pretty thick when the conditions are right, so be ready to share the wave. Keep an eye on the forecast for Northeast swells if you're planning a trip here!
