Ulladulla Bombie surf guide

Ulladulla Bombie is a well-known surf spot located off the New South Wales coastline. It’s mainly popular among locals who are looking for a bit of a challenge. This spot can pack a punch, especially on a big south swell. Make sure you’re suited for the open ocean, as this isn’t a spot for beginners.

The surf here works best when the swell direction comes from the south, but it can handle southeast swells as well. The waves usually start breaking around 4 feet (1.2 meters) and can go a bit bigger. You’ll find both right and occasional left-handers breaking over an uneven reef. The best time to hit the water is during low to mid tide, with a northwest wind preferred. This spot is ideal for expert surfers, as the shifting peaks and unpredictable sections can be quite tricky, not to mention the rips that can sweep you off your feet.

Access to the surf is from the headland car park, and you’ll need to make a bit of a long paddle out. It's a solid workout, but once you’re out there, you’ll find that the waves can be really rewarding. Just be prepared for a spot that can be unforgiving if you're not up to speed. Remember, it’s crucial to watch the conditions closely and only go out if you know what you’re doing.
