Overview
Vila Praia de Âncora is a huge beach break that produces fun sand bar peaks, breaking both left and right over sand. The south end of the beach picks up the most swell, so it's often the spot to check first.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from southwest to north (SW-N), with a northwest swell the best match. The sand bars stay consistent, and it works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for an east offshore wind. It breaks through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide the better call.
Local Tips
This is an approachable beginner beach, and with enough waves to go around, the lineup rarely feels crowded.
