Overview
Vodi is a left-hand reef break that peels over live coral, sitting across a wide channel from Kasabu. It starts with a vertical take-off and runs into fast, hollow sections that offer good barrels, holding shape all the way through to the shallow inside.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from south through west, with south the best match. More south than west in the swell lines the wave up better, and being across the channel from Kasabu means Vodi picks up even more of the southwest energy. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3 m / 10 ft and is a consistent setup. On smaller days the waves stay genuinely fun and turn friendlier, opening the door to longboards, funboards, and surfers still finding their feet.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast offshore wind, with a workable window running from north around to east. The reef can work through most of the tide, and a rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
Vodi asks a lot of intermediates once there is size in it, with the vertical drop and the shallow inside section demanding commitment, and it is the kind of wave advanced surfers will get the most out of. Expect a fairly quiet lineup.
