Wabasso surf guide

Surf: Wabasso is a heavy shorebreak when the swell is as high as the tide. When the ideal tide and swell window conditions appear, thick, boardsnapping waves break really close to the beach. A bit of a rarity, but when it’s on, it will produce some testy waves in a sometimes crowded scenario. Surf: General: Vero's shorter shoreline obviously can't produce the ride range of breaks found across Brevard; however, there's a strong selection of powerful, dumping mid-waves to shorebreaks for a super punchy, high tide tube zone. Because of the offshore reefs, it must be high tide for this spot to really work; however, when it's too big at most other spots, Wabasso's ridge of deep water near shore often allows swells to clean up and dump thick in the shorebreak. On the right tide and swell, the bar becomes epic for surfers of all forms. There is only a block or so of good sections and plenty of hungry mouths. Tides: High tide Size: Waist-1' overhead Wind: Offshore but this is the go to spot when everywhere is onshore and blown out Swell: Works on any direction, bigger the better Bottom: Sand but some reef just off the beach Paddling: Breaks right on the beach but there is some current. Spot Rating: Occasionally gets good on solid swell events, but is mainly a go to shorebreak spot on bigger windswells. The offshore reefs clean up the surf some before exploding on the beach. Access: Public beach park with limited parking. Crowds: Crowd Factor: Can be uncrowded and fun, but if it's big and blown out everywhere, it can get really crowded. Local Vibe: Can be territorial; humility and respect will go a long way. Environment: Usually very clean. Hazards: Broken backs and necks from the shorebreak. Season: Fall-Spring, Hurricane
