The Wedge is located about 1 km off the South Arm’s coastline. This surf spot often attracts a good number of surfers, thanks to its unique setup that allows for some fun barrels. The access to the beach can be a bit of a trek, so expect some crowds, especially when the waves are pumping. It’s known for decent swells that reflect and reform, making it a spot worth checking out when the conditions align.
The best surfing occurs here with a south swell direction, while it also works with southeast and southwest swells. Wedge can handle swell sizes as small as 2 feet (around 0.6 meters) and can go up to double overhead, making it suitable for intermediate surfers looking for a challenge. The waves break over sand and offer both left and right rides, depending on the swell and tide. The best wind direction is from the north, and you'll find good sessions during low, mid, or even high tide.
Wedge delivers punchy and swift waves that can be quite enjoyable when the right swell comes in. It's a great place for intermediate surfers, but be mindful of the conditions and enjoy the ride!
