West End surf guide

West End is a unique surf spot located on Anegada, which stands out from the rest of the British Virgin Islands. This coral island is mostly flat, with its highest point only reaching about 10m (30ft) above sea level. It looks like one giant beach and offers a laid-back vibe. The area can get fairly windy, which is great for kite and sailboarding. If the wind cooperates, you can find decent waves here, especially when conditions align.

You’ll want to look for north, northwest, or northeast swells to catch the best waves, which handle swell sizes around 3ft (0.9m). When the wind drops or shifts south, a long right-hand point break becomes noticeable. It can be a fun, mellow wave for cruising, but keep in mind that it can also get heavy with strong rips. This spot tends to be better suited for intermediate surfers, and it works on low, mid, or high tides, though east winds are preferable for the best conditions.

While West End isn't as consistent as some other BVI spots, it does offer a bit more exposure to swells, so it’s worth checking out. Don’t forget your gear and be ready to enjoy a chill surf session, provided the wind isn’t too strong!
