General: Insanely fickle since the jetty reconstruction, West End offers occasional Sebastian Inlet-like right wedges for those in the known. The spot will turn off for several years, then reemerge for one shining season.</br></br>As in most small Long Island surf towns, the locals are very protective and have the place wired, so getting the better waves can be difficult. Tides: Low-mid generally best Size: Waist high-well overhead Wind: NNW to NNE Swell: SE, ESE, E Bottom: Sand Paddling: Usually pretty mellow but big swells can be tough. Spot Rating: Can get really fun on the right swell.
